...overview

The Frontline Management Institute Certified Practising Manager, cpm, is a competency based award that validates your key achievements as a professional manager and the contribution you have made to the organisations you have worked for.

The cpm is a validation for employers and senior managers that managers are currently able to provide evidence to demonstrate practical application of competency in the four core management fields of:

  • People Management
  • Operations Management
  • Innovation and Change Management
  • Leadership & Self-Management

The fmi cpm is a streamlined and straightforward certification program that is undertaken annually. It is exclusively delivered by the Frontline Management Institute (fmi).

The cpm is available internationally and is based on internationally accepted management competency standards at Diploma of Management level. To gain the cpm managers must have a previous Diploma of Management or higher qualification as well as at least one year's practical management experience. Candidates can contact fmi to discuss eligibility. Participants without the Diploma may consider upgrading or alternatively completing the fmi Recognised Current Manager, rcm, award.

The cpm program can be tailored to meet the needs of organisations and to align with their current strategic approaches to People Management, Operations Management, Innovation, and Leadership. The program can also be designed to link in with, and form part of, performance reviews for managers.

.....learning options

There is a choice of three options to complete the cpm:
Option 1: cpm Standard Program

The Briefing
The briefing can either be done face to face at the Frontline Management Institute or onsite at the workplace for groups or alternatively by Open Learning. The briefing takes one hour.
The briefing explains the cpm process and the cpm Evidence Guide.
It also reviews key professional management competencies.

Preparation of Evidence
Evidence is prepared by the manager which demonstrates application of current practice in each of the four core management fields. Once this evidence has been prepared it is signed off by a workplace mentor who is familiar with the work of the manager. The evidence is prepared using fmi's cpm evidence guide which is easy to use and submitted by email. Help and advice is available as required at all times by phone and email.
Participants must:

  • provide evidence of work carried out and development in each of the four key areas over the last 12 months with supporting documentation
  • provide evidence of an improvement project they have completed in the workplace through a succinct fmi cpm project report
  • submit a current job description
  • submit a brief evaluation on their performance from another manager or a mentor
  • be willing if asked to undertake a phone based or Skype based interview on the evidence they have submitted

Option 2: cpm Workshop Program

  • cpm Standard Program is enhanced by a one day workshop to help prepare evidence.
  • Participants should bring a laptop with suitable documents loaded.
  • fmi supplies an electronic version of the cpm evidence guide to complete to draft form during the workshop.

Option 3: cpm Personalised Program

  • A totally personalised cpm service that is consultant led
  • Submission is compiled and assessed through an on-site visit by an fmi cpm consultant. This service is available where fmi Centres are located such as Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
  • An excellent solution for a busy manager with limited time - takes 4 hours.
  • All confidential information remains on-site

Efficient and streamlined service - certification available within 10 days of successful interview.
