Welcome to this June 2009 issue of fmi Blueprint from the Frontline Management Institute. It’s been a tough first half of the year for many of our clients given the economic conditions. Hopefully we are beginning to see some “green shoots” of a turnaround such as Australia’s Gross Domestic Product growing by 0.4 per cent in the March quarter as announced this week. Certainly we are noticing some signs of a more positive attitude for business confidence over the last few weeks but there is still a lot of work to be done to restore Australia’s economic wellbeing. We hope all readers will have a prosperous time ahead as we roll towards the start of the new financial year on 1st July!

The Frontline Management Institute’s new public course training calendar is now available for July 2009- June 2010. This covers short one or two day courses as well as longer qualifications. Course are suitable for frontline managers, managers and team members.

The new calendar is available on our website or by clicking here. Or you can contact us and we will email you a copy. For more information on our public courses or to book yourself or colleagues into our courses, please contact us via email on fmi@managementcando.com or phone on 02 9281 2635.

fmi’s Management Coaching and Specialist Coaching Services are growing steadily and we have now a range of Coaches who can work one-on-one to help managers develop skills in team leadership, presentation skills, time management, change management, effective business writing and operational planning.

fmi’s coaching work focuses on participants setting and working towards clear goals in terms of both achievement and ongoing skill development.
Normally coaching initially takes place every two to four weeks over a period of three to six months. Organisations can block book coaches for say one or two days per month to optimise effectiveness. Individuals can have off-site coaching.
If you or your colleagues would like to explore how coaching might help your organisation please contact us directly for a confidential discussion, ring 02 9281 2635.

Thank you to all involved, particularly assessors, for getting our assessments back to participants within the 20 working day time frame. We are constantly evaluating our assessment process and always welcome feedback.

As part of the new Australian Quality Training Framework standards, the Frontline management Institute as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) is required to seek in-depth feedback from customers regarding the training we offer.

fmi has introduced this new evaluation in addition to existing feedback procedures to ensure that all clients receive the best possible service from us. We are proud to announce that we have received positive feedback from across the range of our clients about services and their benefit to the organisation.

The Frontline Management Institute is delighted to have been associated with the NSW WorkCover Safety Mentor Program 2008-9 which finished in May 2009. This great program enables principals or safety specialists in small to medium businesses to have a Safety Mentor for a year who is a safety manager or specialist from a large organisation such as Bovis Lend Lease’s Danny Potocki, who initiated the program with WorkCover. There are no fees for the program and it is very practical focusing on safety and OHS improvements to be made in the workplace. fmi, through Larry Lucas, has trained and offered support to the Mentors in the program.
It is estimated there will be over 120 mentees involved in the 2009-2010 program.

If you are interested in the WorkCover Safety Mentor Program 2009-10 which begins in August 2009 (either as a mentor or a mentee) please contact Larry on 02 9281 2635 and he will put you in contact with WorkCover NSW for further details.
